Have just received the very sad news than Martin passed away early this morning.
For those that are not aware, Martin had been suffering with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) for the last 9 months.
Our thoughts are with his family

Posted on behalf of Michael & Linda (Kiteworld)
If you are reading this you will already know that my best friend Martin Corrie has sadly passed away. I have known Martin for over 25 years. Martin helped me with many things, be it with home diy, kitchen fitting, floor laying etc etc! also helping at kite festivals or just solving mates problems. He was always there for me, the good or the bad. If we had to go and set up the kite stall at a festival at 5.00am he would be there, he did this as a friend and not paid a penny.
We spent many a day in our caravans either at kite festivals or just relaxing at a nice camp site. Martin would usually visit at least once a week to Kiteworld HQ usually on a Wednesday when we would have many laughs, friendly arguments about this and that, and then go and get something to eat or a pint!
Martin lived for kites and spent many years organising the Rougham Kite Festival and also as Chairman of the Suffolk Kite Flyers. We had some great times at most of the UK kite festivals and both Dieppe and Berck, where we would put on a display of Martins favourite kites - the Orange Flow Tail Deltas.
My deepest condolences to Martins daughters Anna and Amy who have always been there for him what ever.
Martin, Thank you for the wonderful times we have had together. God bless you, and go fly a kite in heaven.
Your Friends Michael & Linda

Greetings
How terribly sad to hear of Martins death, he was a really nice man and the backbone of the Rougham festival for so many years, it would be hard to imagine that there would have been a 'Rougham' without him.
Motor Neurone is such a cruel disease, it would have been callous in the extreme to wish the poor man lived a day longer, all suffering (for Martin) has now ended.
RIP Martin
Regards Dick.

Sorry to hear about Martin, Martin and I go back twenty years or more: he was always a good friend to Paddy and I and we had a lot of good times together, flying together at many festivals. He will be missed but not forgotten; may he rest in peace.

At Herne Bay festival tomorrow we close the event with a flight of the flotails Martin liked so much. I have suggested to the organisers that we dedicated the flight to Martin.
Get a different perspective - try KAP

Very sad news indeed, I see most people here described him as ‘a lovely man’ and that is exactly what anyone who met him would take away with them. It was my pleasure to mix with him both on the kite field and sociably, always amicable with a wicked, dry sense of humour. Great festival organiser and above all a family man, our deepest condolences to the family he loved so much.
RIP Fluffy, a lovely man, fondly remembered.

I have had a request from Martin's daughters, that should anybody have photographs of him, they would love to have them for something they are doing.
Should you have any, then please PM me, and I will give you the email address of where they should be sent.
Many thanks Dave

I have just received an email from Amy, one of Martin's daughters, with the details for his funeral.
"We now have a date for his funeral for Friday 11th July at St Mary's Church, East Bergholt at 13:30, followed by the wake at East Bergholt Cricket Club/Constable Hall Gandish Road East Bergholt.
We are also asking all his kite friends to bring along a kite as we have a large cricket field in East Bergholt that we are allowed to fly kites in.
Also please pass the message on we are asking everyone if they can wear an item of Yellow or Blue (or both!) I.e. A tie or maybe shoes or hair clip or flower for ladies to break up the black as we want to focus it more on a celebration of Dads life.
With Kind Regards Amy"
