Greetings Kiteists
To use the in vogue buzzwords; here's a 'heads up' regarding the imminent release of Easyjet flights to Fuerteventura from Gatwick. They are due to be released this Thursday, 11th April 2019. The usual form is that they appear at about 0700hrs and the prices are the lowest when they are released, by this I mean literally within minutes of release, they normally increase in price several times within the first hour of release!
The festival dates this year are Thursday 7th November 2019 at El Cotillo and Friday Saturday and Sunday (8th 9th and 10th) In the dunes at Corralejo.
I have booked a flight from Stansted with Jet 2 as the airport is so much closer for me and I can travel to the airport by train.
There are several other airlines that fly to Fuerte. ie Thomas Cook, Norwegian, Jet 2, BA, Thomson, Ryanair and I am sure others; flights are available from many London, Southern, Northern and other airports.
Best Regards Dick.

Looking on the Flights to Fuerte Facebook Group, it appears Easyjet prices have risen this year.

Looking on the Flights to Fuerte Facebook Group, it appears Easyjet prices have risen this year. Greetings I don't know how they worked that out, when I checked this morning the equivalent of the flight that I have already booked with Jet 2 was £96.00 retun including luggage, I paid £180.00 for my Jet 2 flight and I thought that was reasonable considering we used to pay that in the late 80's. My return rail ticket from Downham Market to Stansted Airport for my Fuerte. trip this month was £49.00, I thought that was expensive and it has certainly gone up in price, it also, I believe, puts into perspective just how cheap budget air travel is with the 'cheapie' airlines relative to other forms of travel. My home to Fuerte. by air is 1700 miles and Stansted airport by train is 58miles, I'll let someone else do the comparison maths but it shows what good value the flights are. Best Regards Dick.

Hi all
Sorry it's been a while I do apologise.
Lets Update you. Back last year when I came back from Fuerteventura, the following day I rebooked my hotel for the 9th year. Got a god deal and big discount for being a member of the Barcelo group. yay
Today I finally got round to booking my flights. I will be flying out with Thomas cook again on Wednesday the 6th, just after 9am nice, and will be coming back on the Saturday the 16th just after 3pm,
the total of my return is £283 which is probably more than what a lot of you have payed. I did have a look at the others airlines but couldn't get a morning flight out from Gatwick
The £283 covers 25kg luggage on board meal and extra leg room seat could of had, could of had champagne too but not to my liking..
All what is left to do is airport parking at Gatwick and car hire on the island I am looking at CiCar and payless again, or any recommendation from fellow kite Weekenders.

Greetings Kiteists and Dave in particular I realise I suggested it last year and I also fully accept that it would be difficult to turn an image of a Houbara bustard (Chlamydotis undulata) into something that would be printable on a T shirt so I have been searching the web to find an idealised image or even a cartoon image but all I am able to find is this:- link
There are any amount of photographs and drawings on the net containing far too much fine detail, but little else, at least that I can find. This bird in my opinion features so prominently in Fuerte. life that it would be a great choice for a Kite Weekenders Fuerte. T shirt logo. Regards Dick.

I like that too especially featuring the national bird which very few of us has seen. We were lucky to see one on our first visit but nothing since. I wonder if there are any left as their environment is being destroyed by man as is the case throughout the world.
