Having got back into also flying a bit of dual line and quad line kites again this year, the new kite by Carl Robertshaw has caught my attention Reminds me a bit of the Airbow, but hopefully performs better if Carl has put his name to it. I think, it has just gone into production by Sky Burner kites Sky Burner Website

Both Carl & Josh Mitcheson gave impressive demonstrations at Basingstoke & Dunstable festivals this year. Looks like a great kite.

I managed to have fly over the weekend of a Fulcrum belonging to Josh After a small adjustment because Josh flies with more brake than I ever imagined anyone could, I was off and away. Mega impressed with this kite, a sure winner I think

They have finally arrived and up for sale on the Kiteworld website Sky Burner Fulcrum at KiteworldPrice slightly better than I had first guessed £369.99 and the Ultralight kit for an extra £44.99 After speaking with Michael they will do an offer with both the kite and UL kit for £399.99
The new Fulcrum has been designed by Carl Robertshaw and developed in collaberation with Jon Trennepohl of Sky Burner Kites USA. It is a turning point in sport-kite design, bringing together the worlds of quad-line and advanced dual-line kites like never before. The Fulcrum is beautifully designed as a progressive high-performance sport-kite that redefines the experience of dual, trick, team and quad-line flying. The Fulcrum is loaded with the most advanced features. The innovative CAD-designed sail gives the flyer the most controlled flight ever experienced in a sport-kite and is conceived with panel graphics that work to enhance the dynamics of individual and team performances. The compound parabolic surfaces enable effortless dead-launches and fully eliminate the archaic wing fold inversions, making the Fulcrum even more accessible for newcomers to the quad-line world. Tracking feels super solid and control is precise at every speed, in both forwards and reverse. Direction changes are instantaneous, stops are devastatingly accurate, hovers and rotations are scintillating, all experienced within the Fulcrum’s wide wind-window. The Fulcrum’s interchangeable spar options include the bespoke new Skyshark Fulcrum XLS spar for you to reconfigure the frame to suit your personal flying style. The Fulcrum executes tricks that, until now, were the preserve for dual-line flyers including Yo-yos, Fades, Lazy Suzans, Slot Machines, and more, The new Fulcrum is simply one of the world’s most capable sport-kites. We offer the Fulcrum as kite only, ideal for flyers who already have a sports quad line set and quad handles or as a package including stainless steel quad line handles and a high performance quad line set 25m x 50kg SPECIAL OFFER: Add a Fulcrum UL Frame Set for just £30.00 instead of £44.99 when you buy a Fulcrum Kite. More Info Specs Sail: PC31 (Icarex) Frame: XLS Sky Shark center strut with Nitro Strong outside tubes Wing Span: 104" / 264cm Height: 32" / 82.5cm Wind Range: 4mph to 18mph
The Fulcrum ultra light frame, is a three piece frame that replaces the standard cross struts. It consists of a light weight stiff center spar with two nitro sky shark lites for outside tubes. Comes complete with all connectors and middle pigtail. This will enable you to fly your Fulcrum in lower winds. Wind Range: 2 - 10mph

Hopefully everybody that wanted a chance to fly the Fulcrum at Margam Park had a go. I asked Carl a few weeks ago if he could put together some videos, this is the first one

Does this mean we are going to see a load of Fulcrums at the next KW meet

Does this mean we are going to see a load of Fulcrums at the next KW meet Not sure about a load of them They seem less twitchy than a Rev, and perhaps more forgiving to the flyer, slow like a Rev 1 with a heavier feel to the kite, but I love it The potential has yet to be found of what people can do with it, time will tell.

The potential has yet to be found of what people can do with it, time will tell. Josh was doing some pretty amazing things at Basingstoke in very light and variable conditions!
