Nice pictures Collin! Many thanks for the report also - gives a good flavour of what it's like. And once again, Mentioned In Dispatches here: www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/10/international-kite-festival-india_n_1197386.html#s601191Can't help thinking that Luke looks a little dazed by the whole thing. Please reassure him that this is all normal. Everything is going according to plan. There is no problem. Nobody is screaming. Hope the weather keeps on turning out nice. Can almost smell the river. (From here) Best, Derek

Yep, no problem... but so many pictures, and I only want to look at the kites, really... Hi DCW,
Thanks for your input, it might not sound like it from what I have written below but I appreciate ANY feedback at all as I do wonder why I spend time on this as there seems to no one out there? At least you took the time to speak, but you will appreciate there is a reason to put lots of ingredients into this curry of photographs….it adds spice and flavour, yes / no? Thanks again Roy.Sorry you have to sift through my photos to find what interests you, just the kites, but I think long and hard before I post EACH one and even then I wonder why I bother spending my limited time in posting any, as you will know it really is a time consuming chore and takes HOURS, not to mention I have to BUY limited internet usage!
Why bother? The photo sets I have taken in India I deliberately posted on Facebook to maximise the amount of people I can bore! There will be some from across the world who just want to see themselves, family who just want to see what Luke and I have been up to, people who have been before want to see this years festival, my family in India always peep, Derek is really missing being here so I want to rub it in ( I miss you really Buddy) I can go on and on and on but only IMO …to give other Kiters who will never go to India or a festival abroad the best possible insight to the atmosphere, sights and happenings that I have experienced primarily at a ‘Kite Festival’ but it encompasses so much more, and wish to share via a media that is accessible to everybody (not just KITE forum members) thus they get to see what I have seen even if all the subjects covered will not be of any interest to them whatsoever.
I usually post a WARNING with my photo sets advising not to click them as they MAY bore the pants off ya…..but the choice is inevitably up to the reader. Drat Now I have no time to write a factual report and no internet for the next few days as we will fly till midday tomorrow at the Ahmedabad main festival site then be hearded off by coach for the 9 hour drive to fly on Mandavi Beach the day after then drive straight back again as soon as we bag up our kites off the beach. Gruelling schedule that I am not looking forward to!

Hello Collin, Luke & Bob & everyone else. Yes we are here. Good to see you are all still smiling. Even Luke has managed grin. I noticed you climbed the nice safe ladder. Didn't fancy the scaffold opposite? Is the money kite a kite or a tail? How did you get on in the Rok fight? Any chance of a few of those sofas for Sumners? And you can now say you have floated on the third most polouted river in the world. Cheers, Greenman

Your heart must of sunk when you saw those sofas - if they need to make you that comfortable the speeches must be going to go on for hours!

Whatever you do Collin dont think that your photo's and reports are going unappreciated here. Its great to see and read what you are up to and give those of us who will probably never be able to go and good insight into what is obviously a great event. Great to see KKF in the sky in India - keep up the good work and enjoy yourselves Mike

Greetings Collin,
I love the Festival pictures from India especially the super trains! Fascinating to see the birds investigating them, are they kites buzzards or some kind of Indian Shite Hawks?
I am really quite worried by the picture that shows Luke in a boat, is it on the sewer river in Ahmadebad? if so it is reputedly full of every virus, toxin and bacteria known to man! Falling in there and only catching Bilharzia, leptospirosis and Amoebic Dysentry is classed as a 'result' and getting away lightly!
Keep up the good work and don't let the 20 hour days and 'luxury' travel wear you down.
Best Regards Dick.

Absolutely shattered from a gruelling schedule in Ahmedabad followed by an equally punishing schedule here at the Belgaum international kite festival. Its 9.45pm and have had a full days flying and thank God there is no more to do as I cannot take anymore on this merry-go-round of rushing places in a herd to just conform!
Cant be bothered to even talk about it, not that I have the time or internet here, and have pre-writen this and posting from a ‘hot spot’ in Belgaum. We have JUST now been told we are not flying on the evening of the 18th. But going on an overnight train from Belgaum to Mumbai tomorrow the 17th. at 9pm, arrive Mumbai at 6am on the 18th. to hang in Mumbai till our flight to Heartrow departing at 2.15am on the 19th. arriving 6.30am at LHR.
Not a happy Bunny at all!!!
PS STOP Bloo*y laughing.

I have heard the train service is very good in India, although they can get a bit busy. ;D Don't forget to hold on tightly, it's only for 9 hours
