Hello lovely techie kite people, I'm looking to upgrade my ancient phone to something respectable, but with a decent camera. As there are too many on the market & I'm clueless , I would love some help in choosing one please. Genie xxx

havent gone wrong with my iphone 4, i get 1200 minutes, unlimited text and unlimited internet all for 60 squids a month, the camera i cant fault, the apps store is really good with plenty of free ones. Also the iphone comes with the ipod aswell so plenty of storage for your music, vids etc etc.
but it all depends on how you want to pay, pay as you go or a contract. The one problem i have with the iphone is that it cost a bomb on pay as you go, its something like £400 i think now.

Cheers Jamie, it would be a pay-as-you-go tariff, so maybe not the iphone. Will have to find out from Vodafone what they are offering.
Thanks for your help xxx

Smart phones on pay as you go tend to cost a small fortune. If you dont use your phone to much you can get a Samsung Galaxy ACE for about £12 a month, or less if you shop around. I got RHW's for £8.50 per month with 200 minutes, 500 texts & 500mb of data. It's not top of the range but its got a decent camera and its on Adroid so most of the apps are free.
Good hunting, Greenman

You can pick up a Samsung Galaxy Ace for about 120 pounds on ebay then get a sim only tariff.
Your choice depends on operating system preference... Apple - complete lock in to Apple and expensive, but users love them Android - wide choice but some issues on reliability and lots of patent wars going on. Samsung and HTC are probably top of the tree Windows - new in the smartphone market and I think only available on Nokia. People I know who have them love them Blackberry - going down the pan really.
