Now a lot of that makes sense! I don't think I'd want to get into the trick flying, but I have been flying the Hubsan FPV quad, and if I am flying it visually, even close to me, I lose orientation easily, whereas with a heli I KNOW which way round it is, and can fly it pretty well, even nose in. There is a much better chance of me flying this more safely like that. The one thing the Hubsan lacks is hight hold, and I find it easy to change the throttle setting accidentally when turning with the rudder, and taking the rudder off the throttle stick (or vice versa) makes a lot of sense: but it would take some learning now! Naturally, being new and American, I don't like the prices, but that might change... If I stick with fixed pitch, this is what I fancy for easy orientation when flying:

That looks fantastic What is it? it looks like it could fly but how. You have probably worked by now I know sod all about these flying fingy's Now a lot of that makes sense! "That looks fantastic What is it? it looks like it could fly but how. You have probably worked by now I know sod all about these flying fingy's " It's just the body/chassis kit, when complete it would have a rotor on each pod and one at the rear of the fuselage... The advantage as far as I am concerned is that it looks like a heli, so orientation when flying is easier, just my problem these days:

RRRR now I get it with its rotors on looks really nice that. Looks like loads of fun. No I will not get one her indoors would think I have totally lost the plot if I start another thing going. That fuselage kit is £40plus from Hobbyking, this looks like a useful and cheaper alternative, just £44.99 ( on Maplin's website here):

The maplins one looks quite small in the box, maybe just a tiny bit bigger than a Hubsan X4. Not sure how big the HK one is without seeing it against someone's hand but I do like the styling. I've been learning with a Syma X1, at £30 (On amazon) it's an absolute bargain and because its double the size of the Hubsan I own I find it stabilizes nicely with its in built gyro and will carry a keychain camera. I've yet to even come close to breaking it even though it's been crashed plenty of times and smashed into the ceiling by my partner who said 'oh that looks easy!' I do love that stingray though!

The Maplin one is about the size of the Hubsan, so the price is reasonable. The Y-3 is 22 inches long, and 21 inches wide between the front motor pods, so not small!

How small can you get before you lose orientation when it's only a few feet away?!
