The name Phaff seems to be a favorite with kite makers. At the moment I am concerned about the best machine for the job at hand, (Kite Making) Greetings Courtney The older Pfaffs are indeed very good machines especially those models with dual feed which helps hugely with the feeding of ripstop, sadly the new Pfaffs are now made in China and I am told the build quality has gone downhill. The original models were made in Germany then later in Sweden and The Czech Republic, for this reason an older second hand one would serve you better. I would suggest you get a 100% manual machine no electronics at all. If I had the money to buy a new machine (a domestic one) In my humble opinion the best of all is the manual basic model Bernina (by a mile) but at £700.00 for a basic machine they are not cheap but you get a Swiss made machine of exceptional quality and built like a tank. Jelv has one he could tell you more. Regards Dick.

Yvonne comes from a machining back ground and say's it's a good quality machine. Spares are also available. Hope this helps Stephen & Yvonne

We tend to go against the grain here. We use two Singers. We have a Tempo 60 & a 348 industrial. They work just fine for kite making as long as we keep them serviced.
Big Love, RHW
