While flying my foam eagle on Saturday evening, on the far side of the hedge behind Trashman's caravan, there was a sort of "whumph" noise, and the eagle dropped into a vertical dive Fearing the worst (battery or electrics), I rapidly shut down the power, but there didn't seem to be any smoke or flames The eagle started to pull out of the dive, so I tentatively tried the controls, and found that they worked fine. I had enough altitude to clear the hedge, and proceeded to put it down in 'our' field safely. It was only after picking up the eagle and walking back to our van that I realised that the motor and prop were missing, although the motor mount was still there. Obviously the screw holding the motor had worked loose, allowing the motor to pull clear of the nose, and in dropping down, pulled the eagle into the dive. I assumed it had departed the eagle at that point, and quartered the other field looking for it, unsuccessfully It was only after Jamie found the motor and prop in 'our' field on Sunday morning, close to where I had landed the eagle, that I realised I had not seen it hanging in the fading light as I flew it back. it had not parted company until the landing, when it was dragged out, pulling the plug-in connections apart. I have since checked the motor, and everything is fine, the repairs are complete to the body where the prop had made a few nicks, and some mods done that I had already planned. Just a couple of hinges to fit and a touch-up on the paintwork and it will be ready for test flying However, now that it is wearing the disguise of a buzzard, I think the eagle has truly landed, and the new name of Buzzard should be applied
