me thinks KKF have cocked up yet another event. however Jamie HAS GOT THIS TODAY FROM MEDWAY COUNCIL
Dear Jamie
Carl is the Event Manager for Kites Over Capstone and I am organising it on his behalf. The Capstone Country Park Manager has only given permission for camping > from 9am on the Saturday 5th September 2009. > > Capstone Farm County Park, (Event Field), Capstone Rd, Gillingham, ME7 3JG > > I hope this answers your question and that you will be able to attend.
Best of regards Julie Doherty Events Officer Tel: 338109 Email: julie.doherty@medway.gov.uk

Latest I have seen is after 2pm on Saturday for camping. I was going to arrange things to arrive Friday pm and then Saturday 9am and now its after 2pm on Saturday. Well forget it, with a 100 mile drive, I really do not want to bother supporting something that can not even be properly organised for such a simple event. Not sure of the blame but the KKF do not seem very interested in accommodating flyers that wish to camp, so god help Teston next year if they are in charge, as Teston has been a Kiting and Camping weekend for all the years that I can remember. Come back Ron

Tony, I have been givne after lunch on Saturday by the team evnts organsier who was speaking to me whilst standing next to the park manager. I am not sure why the campers a re making a big issue of the whole thing. I know you want to be ther for as long as possible as it makes it more wothwhile, but everything was last minute and it would be nice if we coulde comply with thier wishes. I am completely fed-up with the whole issue of camping, especially as I seem to have been bypassed by campers, as it is not how they wish to have things. It feels a bit like throwing toys out of the pram. Because the council only wokr 9-5, I am having to try to find time in my busy work schedule to be the SPOC. Without a specific point of contact any event being orgnaised cna descend into chaos and confused messages all over the place. I will make a comment on the webpage if any comments like yours have been posted, but other than that I am making no further comment. Malcolm

Cant see Camping disappearing from Teston, the rangers love it it’s a good source of income. As for the above post....... Speechless. Just dont let me go to Capstone all on my tod again, if there's action else where let me know.

Greetings Campers Kite Flyers and Moaners,
I am not attending Capstone and never intended doing so; which in accordance with the usual etiquette of this forum makes me the most qualified to say, that were I attending I would turn up sometime between 1800hrs Friday evening and 1400hrs Saturday afternoon.
Statistically I would then stand at least 50% chance of getting it right.
On the other hand if I were not a rebel or 'born again commie' I would arrive at 1401 hrs Saturday afternoon and be 100% right!
Just as well I am not going or I might get there at the appointed time!
Just remember that communication skills are everything.
Yesterday I did not know how to spell Heliocopter pilot, now I are one!!
Best Regards Absent Dick

I think Medway council are the problem to many orgainers for my liking both of which are saying different things, if they want a bigger and better festival next year then they need to get there act toghther,
Dad has also said malcom, bill, gerty and gareth dont camp so why get involved about camping if they dont even do it, Brighton and Kite Weekenders camp, so let them get on with it, we are going saturday morning and shall be there between 9am and 12, the orgainsers and not going to tell us to p**s off for a couple of hours are they?

I expect everyone has seen the latest update from Simon:
OK I have just got of the phone to the council.
We are apparently allowed to arrive from 9.00am Saturday 5th September, Julie (from the council) was originally told the same as last year i.e. Friday through Sunday but the rangers changed their minds and made it Saturday trough to Sunday hence the confusion, she is not sure where the 2.00pm can from and has confirmed 9.00am.
lets hope that now we have spoken it is all OK for people to turn up as discussed.
Simon
This confusion is down to Medway council giving conflicting information and not the fault of KKF or Malcolm who are only passing on information gained by a meeting with the event organiser and park manager.
