do you think we might get to see her pussy??? pirate Greetings Being covered in thick black fur do you not think the poor thing would overheat in the sun? Regards Dick. Could be a Sphynx Cat (The Sphynx is a breed of cat developed through selective breeding starting in the 1960s, known for its lack of a coat (fur), though it is not truly hairless.) so less chance of overheat in the sun. Greetings Roy and Helen
Glad to hear you are both going to Fuerte. I'm sure you will enjoy it there if you do not then to the best of my knowledge you will be the first kite flyers who have not.
I think the first point to make is that you need to have a hire car, there is absolutely no rush to do this as there always seem to be plenty even if you leave it until the last week or so, hire cars are always a good bit cheaper hired from the UK rather then hiring one in Fuerte. The two companies that I think just about all of us use are Cicar and Payless, payless is a little cheaper but the cars are not quite so new but are more than adequate. If you only want a small car which for the two of you I would expect you would find big enough as the distances travelled are not huge and the roads whilst they are absolutely fine do not really lend themselves to high speed cruising, then expect to pay just under £200 for the whole two weeks.
The first day of the festival ie the Thursday we all fly at El Cotillo which is about a 20 minute drive from Corralejo, the Friday Saturday and Sunday of the festival we fly in the dunes in Corralejo which is about 3ks from Corralejo.
Where to stay, well every year so far I have stayed in a hotel or in the earlier years self catering apartments in Corralejo, this year by way of a change I am staying with Dan and Paddy and Paul and Julie in a Villa in El Cotillo. There is plenty of accommodation in both places but Corralejo does have a large selection of shops and restaurants. El Cotillo is very quiet indeed! If you want to have a wander into town in the evenings then Corralejo is the place to go in El Cotillo you will be finished in five minutes!
In the past years the accommodation providers that have seemed to consistently come up with the best prices (bearing in mind that all the companies sell beds in the same accommodations) are Low Cost Holidays and Alpharooms, there is generally only a couple of quid between them but it is worth a good surf around. The real choice is whether you choose to go all inclusive or self catering if you choose self catering you need to bear in mind that many of the apartments do not have an oven only a couple of electric rings, of course if you choose to eat out most nights this is an irrelevance. Restaurants are not super expensive but if you use them every night the bill soon mounts up! You will find every standard of accommodation from budget to sheer luxury.
With regards the kiting, generally speaking the wind is fairly strong in the order of 10 to 20 mph but there are always a few quieter days and on occasion the odd hour when everything falls out of the sky; as to which kites to take, bear in mind that if you take a tube or similar to pack them in you have to pay extra for it, some would say(me) through the nose!
I hope this answers some of your questions post or pm me if you need to know more.
Regards Dick.

Thank you Dick,
There is a lot to take in there, my boss in work said get car insurance before you go there, as that save a lot.
As you said you only need a car that goes and stops, 4 seater will help others to get about if needed, (and I be cheaper than a taxi)
Helen wants to go all inclusive rather than self catering, but we will try the local food as well.
Kite poles are the problem, the lenght, might get some spare poles with ferrols to half the lenght to fit in the suitcase and get a bigger suitcase,
I hear with Fuerte I can take more kite and less cloths, Who needs a Overcoat out there. LOL
Roy.
To be continued.

Greetings Kiteists During the weekend at Sumners Ponds Dave Mitchell suggested we started thinking of a logo for this years forthcoming Fuerteventura Kite Festival. I fully accept that Dave has more pressing matters on his mind at present with Bognor only just over a week away but I have been giving the matter some thought and suggest this for consideration. The most famous bird on the Island by a very long way is the the Houbara Bustard (Chlamydotis undulata fuertaventurae) it is the subject of much debate and indeed protest over it's habitat being destroyed by development. The bird appears as the emblem on the Parque Natural sign that we pass every day en- route to the beach. It is endangered and I have never seen one in all the years I have been going, some have; Ernie I know has seen one. I suggest this would make a fitting background logo for this years T shirt , subject of course to Dave being able to stylise it into a printable form. linkAll further suggestions welcome. Regards Dick.

2009 Dick is this the bird you mean? Greetings Steve Yes that's it, well done for spotting one, unless you had a very long lens it looks liked you got quite close to it! I am not a birdwatcher/twitcher but I would love to see one. Now you have started the ball rolling are all Fuerteists going to now come on here and say they too have seen one, leaving only me that haven't? Regards Dick.

There are still a few of these about The Canary Islands’ Camel - Camello CanarioThe Camello Canario is a dromedary, but keeps the name of ‘camel’ which has been traditionally used by the islanders. There are currently some 1,200 animals on the islands. The first ‘Camelus dromedarius’ were brought over to the Canary Islands from Africa in around 1405, and were essential to the European colonisation of the islands. They adapted well to the local conditions and expanded throughout the archipelago, particularly in the south of Gran Canaria and Tenerife and across the islands of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. They were used to carry people and goods, and also had an important role in agriculture. The islands’ indigenous population is the only breed of Camelus dromedarius to be recognised in Europe and, compared with other breeds of dromedary, has a relatively strong constitution, is of medium size, and is well-proportioned. It’s a stocky beast with a well-developed chest and a muscular conformation. Today, the Canaries camel is generally used in the tourist industry. They are used as a means of transport on excursions to the islands’ national parks and nature reserves, including the Timanfaya National Park on Lanzarote. I am sure this one looks like one of the kite fliers

Hi all, I received a message from Werner Bache earlier today. After you read it, if you have anything you can spare and take out to Fuerte for the little lad would be great. I will print him a Kite Weekenders T-Shirt and take it with me Hi Dave .... Fuerteventura is comming closer.😊😎. I read your anoncement about the kite Weekenders Tshirt for Fuerte. I'm having a question. Is it possible ti have one TShirt fo a Nine year old boy. Last year he was with us in Cortillo. He is living there with his parents. He like realy kite flying. He is the future of the Kite world. May be you remember him as well. When i was last February there as well he jouned nearly every day at the beach of cortillo. Spoke to Werner and hope this helps.
Greetings Werner. Read your post on Kite Weekenders about Leo. We are not sure what you mean by "some old material" do you mean ripstop? please try and explain, Best wishes Stephen
an old kite or a line, ore something to put on the line. not so big. He will be 9 years at the end of the year. He still has some kites and a 24 power sled from me. But my old powersled is no more flying well when the wind is increading. the material is meanwhile elastic. May be some has a small kite wich he can flying under wind. But keep in mind not to big. He will be happy for sure of any kind of kite material. Ripstop is not necessarry. hHr is not building kites at the moment. Hopefully in some years.
