It does all seem very unsure at the moment if this event actually will take place I was however sent a message asking if Kite Weekenders would be willing to support it if there was car parking and overnight camping passes made available. There is absolutely zero, zilch, squaddly shit money available to pay for fliers, hotel accommodation or travelling, but if anyone is interested please let me know. The festival is normally held over the weekend of the first bank holiday in May each year. Dave

Ok if anything like last few years I won't be going I am really not too sure what to expect, there does seem a to have been quite a few unhappy kite fliers over the last few years. I think Waine H might be giving him a bit of advise, but if he accepts it or not is anybody's guess. Not sure if I will go yet, I am off on holiday on the Tuesday after the bank holiday. I used to like Weymouth, it is such a shame of its decline

Yes it was a really n8ce festival when the kite society used to do it the last time I did it it was dangerous on the beach and young child nearly got lifted in air with a big kite council came down and told the oranisers to fence kite arena off or festival would be shut down have not done it since

That is a problem when the public start to mix with kite flyers. They look upon kites as toys. The public need to be kept out of the flying arena. A couple of years back a young boy in India at a kite festival was picked up and dropped form about 30 ft he died of his injuries later. If that happened in the UK a lot of parks would ban it immediately. We would have no free flying areas left.

The lack of proper arenas for show kites is one reason why I stopped attending Dunstable and Royston Kite Festivals even though they are my closest festivals.
