Apologies for not updating any further. Unfortunately there has been a change in the management of Teston Country Park at Kent County Council, who have requested event plan, risk assessments, camoping plan, which I provided some 4-5 weeks ago. There seems to be a habit of not acknowledging or replying from the lead person, so I have sent an e-mail stating that I am planning for the event to go ahead as in the past KCC had acknowledged earlier in the year that the event will go-ahead. So unless anything drastic happens in the next few weeks, I look forward to seeing as many of you who support the Teston weekend on the 11-12th August. I intend being on site on Friday 10th from around 10am

Following on from my last post, I have finally received a reply from KCC. All is fine and will be advised of the combination lock code nearer the weekend for both the top and lower gate. Planning on having a couple of our members in charge of the gates. I have a hot food caterer booked an confirmed as of today. AS in previous years on the two flying days, no admittance after 10am unless car only, which has to be parked up by the bridge, where KKF normally "picnics". No leaving of the field unless in emergency before 5pm on both days. In emergency please contact a member of KKF to arrange to be escorted off field.Usual arrangements for supply of water and use of toilets overnight will be in place by 10th August

Please note for any-one attending, that we have been requested not to leave the top gate open or just sitting without being locked, as there has been a few problems over the last year with over height vehicles gaining access to the car parking area. Also can we make sure that the gate to the field is kept shut and no-one other than campers and kite flyers with cars is allowed on, please challenge any-one who you think may not be attending the Teston Kite Festival as such. I have tried to keep the whole access low key as usual, by not issuing camping or car passes.

I have been to Teston this morning Friday 3rd August to put up posters and speak with the site ranger. He has told me that due to the very long hot dry summer happening, there is now a total ban on b.b.q or any form of outdoor cooking using a naked flame, especially when the park is officially open and ranges are around.
No doubt this will be the first of many bans on outdoor cooking in similar circumstances during the next few weeks.
