Dates have now been confirmed for the annual weekend at Teston Bridge Country Park, with camping allowed from the Friday 9th through to midday on Monday 11th.
As always this is a time for kite flyers to mingle, socialise, promote and engage the public in our wonderful world of Kiting.
Pitch fee for weekend as previously £10 per pitch for up to 4 persons.

There have been rumours about there being a ban on b.b.q's at Teston this year. I can now confirm that this ban is not only for Teston, but a permanent indefinite ban across all of Kent County Council Country Parks. I have questioned this ban for the Teston weekend, but they have decided no exemptions.

The above mentioned ban applies to all open air cooking, but not that inside appropiate vehicles. This ban has been due to the general public causing damage to the parks and park furniture by careless, selfish behaviour, as well as invasions by large groups coming from outside Kent, leaving rubbish strewn,as well as using public toilets inappropriately.
I have had confirmation the caterer who was on site last year will attend again this year.
Obviously this may inconvenience some of you, who come along and camp, but obviously it is out of my hands.
The park os open to the public between 8am and closes around 20.30 in the evening.

I shall be on site from around 10.30 on the Friday morning for those arriving early, as in previous years there will be a combination lock on the main gate and overhead barrier.
As in previous years no movement by vehicles from 10.30am to 5pm on both the Saturday and Sunday, except in an emergency, when you will need to be escorted by a member of KKF walking in front of vehicle. As in the past you may stay until MOnday noon.
I have arranged for the APNR not to record vehicles going onto the field from Friday morning. If you should receive a payment demand please let me know and I will arrange for it to be cancelled.

Teston is nearly upon us, under two weeks away.
Nothing has really changed. Those who wish to camp may arrive from Friday 9th, lunchtime onwards, The top barrier to the entrance to the park will be closed and we shall let vehicles in as they arrive. This barrier has to remain locked at all times to prevent the illegal incursion of others to the parking area. The entrance to the field will be via the wooden gate on the left as you enter after the barrier. I hope to be on site form about 10.30am Camping is to the far end of the field as usual. Donation of £10 per pitch of up to 4 persons, this goes towards the cost of the weekend.
Day vehicles will be parked up by the bridge as usual by the KKF gazebo.
There is no vehicle movement on or off the field during the hours of 10.30am to 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday, except in an emergency where you will need to contact a member of KKF to arrange escort either on or off the field.
All vehicles to proceed no faster than 10 mph with 4 ways and headlights on at all times.
Toilets in block behind car park where there will be access to water.
No Barbecues.
A caterer has been booked to attend on the Saturday and Sunday.
KKF will be organising a fish and chip supper at a cost of £5 per person, please let Janet or Malcolm know if you wish to join in, birng your own chair, cutlery and cups and any alcoholic beverage; soft drinks, rolls etc will be supplied by KKF, who will subsidise all costs above the contribution from those taking part. This is not just for members but any other attendees who wish to join in.
Please find a poster attached, if you are able to publicise the event, please print off and display.teston-19v1-1Poster.pdf (824.36 KB)teston-19v1-1Poster.pdf (824.36 KB)
Please note that the poster which is for general publicity, states camping has to be pre-booked, this is not the case and is a way of trying to prevent unknown non kiteflyers attempting to camo on field.
Please do not cook in the open between the hours of 8am and 8.30pm, whne the park is open to the public and the ban on public b.b.qs will be enforced.

I will not easily contactable on Friday morning as I will be driving to and then be at Teston from around 10.30am. Please use text or call me directly on 07840086770, if you need to make contact. The signal at Teston Country Park can be variable, so may take time to answer any texts.

The weather forecast for Friday and Saturday is not good, with improvemnet on Sunday. At moment Teston is not cancelled, but any-one camping does so at their own risk.

It would seem that there has been a lack of communication at Euro Car Parks as they have been issuing warning letters about vehicles not parking in accordance with the code of practice at the Park. As far as I know no-one has received a penalty notice, but I have passed the situation to Jonathan at Teston Country Park. I have also sent a letter under KKF banner to Europarks requesting that all the notices be withdrawn. Await their answer. As far as I understand no one has received a penalty notice so far.

This is a reply on behalf of Kent County Council:- "Have found the reason why you were sent the letters. There was a trial going on which made it difficult to exclude the kite festival. I was not aware of the situation Apologies Jonathan Because we have set these to run for a period of time prior to going live so we cannot just cancel it. This was agreed by Helen for all 8 of the Kent country parks we enforce. These are not parking charge notices, they are just advising that going forward they would need to pay for parking on site. If you explain this and let them know that this was why they could not be made exempt. But going forward once live we will be able to." I am not sure what the above explains: as far as I am aware the system has been live for at least three years, or of it applies to the ogtehr parks more than to Teston. It may be that in future veh reg. may be needed to be collated and passed to KCC. Read more: kentkiteflyers.proboards.com/thread/1673/teston-kite-weekend-11th-august?page=1#ixzz5xn9vPUDi
