Good evening all , we have some good news , bearing in mind the government's restrictions We will be able to go to Sumners from Friday 31st July - Sat 15th Aug We will have to be totally self sufficient, we will not be able to use any of Sumners shower blocks or toilets. We will be able to empty cassettes Please can you let us know who is interested so we can let Sumners know. This is the same weekend as the jolly up , if that goes ahead , but great for the week after if you were attending the Jolly Up .. Thanks

I have had conformation from Sumners Ponds Campsite that we are booked in to the top field commencing Friday 31st July for two weeks till Friday 14th of August with the possibility of having the weekend of the 15/16th as well, but that bit is provisional at the moment. No one needs telling there will be rules and regulations regarding social distancing and mixing with the others on the main campsite, we will have to be totally self sufficient regarding toilet and shower facilities but the chemical emptying point is still available.
Could we all ensure that we distance our pitches as much as possible (its a big field) to show we are willing, and conform to Sumners Ponds upcoming ‘regulations’ that are still in manipulation/production to comply for the July 4th camping season opening nationwide.
I have informed Sumners of the number units expected to attend but as usual it is open to all kite flyers to attend and fly for part/all of the event as long as they notify here of their intention to do so.
C’mon down for the first fly of 2020 for many of us, and enjoy our freedom while it lasts!

23/07/2020 Update:
I have just heard Simon the owner of Sumners Ponds and there are a few changes to our camping arrangements this time.
Due to a bereavement there is a marquee going up in our usual field where they are holding a wake on the 4th August. We are asked to use the adjacent field (above Betty’s lake, where the RC planes were last time) and not to arrive before 10.30am on the 31st July. Obviously respect the privacy of the mourners at the wake and their comings and goings. After the 4th we may be required to move back to our usual field to allow his stock to graze, an inconvenience for sure but on behalf of everyone I said we are flexible and open to whatever suits him, at £6 a night we are glad he had put up with us for all these years. Spacing between units should be double how we usually park, assume two units could fit between you and your neighbour and that will satisfy him and other public members who may venture up there.
Amenities, cafe etc. at Sumners are running under COVID regulation so somewhat restricted and as Paul has already mentioned we should use our own facilities during our stay although the chemical emptying points on the bottom sites are open.
Height clearance has been applied for 500ft but not approved as yet. CAA height clearance to 500ft obtained.
He has approved the weekend of the 15/16 th to be tagged onto our long break so now 31st. July to the 17th August.

We had thought we might join you for this but we currently don't have a caravan as we've traded the sieve Lunar in. We don't get the new one until the end of August.

We looked at the Eldiss equivalent first at a local dealer, but that (as is common with the Eldiss brand) has much darker wood. So went down to Highbridge and struck lucky with availability (Eldiss and Compass are made in the same factory).
