2010 saw us raise £400 in support of GOSH, last years forum thread is HERE and it has been suggested we support them again this year, to which I also add my vote. The idea of a voluntary DONATION of £1 if you put your kite in a tree was the brain child of The Bloke from the smoke, who was also the first donator of £1 on 1st January 2011, yes New Years DAY at the Devils Dyke fly in!! Ha, ha Les![/color] Second Wally this year was myself, in Ahmedabad, BUT my excuse is I was deliberately (and skilfully) cut by a fighter kite on manja, from half a mile away, sending my lifter over the three tower blocks in the picture, taken seconds before the incident, below, and LUCKILY ending up in a tree, or it would have been salvaged by the locals, as a cut kite there belongs to the finder in their culture!
I was VERY pleased to find it at all, as it went miles, and as I only took the one lifter to India, it would have been the end of my kiting dislay there, so putting £1 in the kitty is no big deal! About Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity Great Ormond Street Hospital treats many thousands of patients each year - children who are suffering from the rarest, most complex and often life-threatening conditions. We raise funds to support the Hospital and ensure it remains a world-class hospital.

RULE clarification that is in need YOUR opinion:
As these rugby posts were trees once, should the flier responsible for this fiasco be hounded for a donation to GOSH?

As these rugby posts were trees once, should the flier responsible for this fiasco be hounded for a donation to GOSH? Were they trees once? If those are the same posts as the blue tit was nesting in last year the cross bar was most certainly a metal tube, but I can't remember if the uprights were metal or wood.

Greetings Kitists, Jelvs memory serves him well, all parts of the rugby posts are steel. The argument that it may have been a tree in a former life sadly does not apply.
You could of course make an emotional appeal to the flyer on moral grounds ie 'a goal post is as good as a tree', but if the flyer is who I believe it was, that is likely to fall on deaf ears!
If you get an offer of tenpence I would be inclined to take it!
Best Regards Dick

The cross bar is defiantly a metal tube. But the uprights may well be ex-tree. I think a local ruling would be the way forward. Trashman, could you check the origin of the obstruction?
Cheers, Greenman.
p.s the kite is now known as Tina. Its his private pole dancer.

Well done Boney mate ..... you were not alone, Tina (ELF) £2 for her Blade Terry (ELF) £1 for his Genky in 'THE' tree!

Collin - don't let me forget to hand over £15 collected at Leominster the next time I see you.
£5 donated by a member of the public who managed to put a nice kite in the very top of a very large Ash tree - when we explained about the custom he handed over £5 as he used to work at GOSH
£10 - Carl was dishing out the left over cider at the end - two people wanted to pay him and he wouldn't accept payment and suggested they make a contribution to GOSH instead

*CF £182.91
July : Leominister, Member of the public, £5 July : Leominister, Sale of Cider! £10
Thanks John, sorry I never replied to your text while at Dunstable ( I forgot ) thank all for their donations. With my of short term memory I also keep a running total on the forum as it occurs, so anyone that donates can see their contribution added to the total collected.
I did see some pictures on Facebook of Hereford Kite Festival, looked drier than Dunstable, but guessing the cameras only came out between showers, and indoors with lots of wining and dining!
*CF £197.91
