I am going to be building a Picavet for my new KAP rig over the winter. I have read up on the subject but I still have a few questions before i start.
When threading the line though the loops, do you tie the two ends together or do you tie them to the uppermost attachment point? Does it make any difference?
How much better is it to put pulleys on the cross instead of just using eyes? Does using pulleys significantly increase the chance of the line slipping over the edge of the pulley and snagging?
What is the best size of cross for a modern digital compact camera? I will be using an Olympus C-60. It is 235grams
Thanks,
Greenman

i have made a picavet with pulleys and bought a profesionally made one without pulleys, there is no appreciable difference the lines are two continuous lines that terminate at the point you attach to the kite line clip, the cross only needs to be 4"x4" if you were a very good boy i will lend you mine to replicate

I am sure you have found this already, but some info for others www.kapshop.com/Great service and really quick delivery Note: Dave Mitchell on the KAP forum that Collin mentioned is sadly not me, but a world renowned KAP photographer. Although I did make use of the mistake for some extra discount once ;D

Thank you all for the links and especially the bloke for his offer of the loan of his rig. I've been using the site below for most of my info. www.kaper.us/basics/BASICS_picavet.htmlI hope to be up and running with a basic KAP setup by Streatham. p.s. The reports of my snuffling for truffles have been a little exaggerated. Back to the trough. Oink, Oink.
