We landed at about 11 on Saturday night. Great flight, especially looking down on Lisbon at night. Towards the end of the flight, the pilot announced that it was a "bit breezy at Gatwick." That was a beautiful piece understatement. As we came into land we could see nothing until about 500 feet. I'm not a fan of landing at the best of times, and this one was going to be a nightmare. Then at 300 feet, looking out of the side widow R announces "I can see the runway"! That must be wrong thinks I, so I take a peek. she was definitely right. A great pilot brought it down sideways and popped it on runway to a ripple of applause. As we came past the windsock i noticed that it was sitting solid straight out. Not a ripple in it. Found out later that we had gusts of 49mph at the time we landed. Phew.
I hope the last of the Fuerte crew have a better time of it tomorrow. The Purple Dinosaur should have blown himself out by then.
Photos of Fuerte to follow soon. cheers.

Greetings
We are on board the flight home and have been warned of very strong winds at London, looks like we too are for 'some turbulence'
Had a wonderful couple of weeks the warmest for very many years, I will post my photos later this week.
Regards Dick.

Greeting Furteists on the plane, Weather for Brighton is showing winds of 45mph tonight. Gatwick is showing a measly 19mph.
Temperature for Downham Market on Saturday is expected to fall to 0! Buckle up and enjoy the ride.

Regards Dick. Dont know if you will get this before you land the planes are landing sideways then bouncing strait as they hit the runway so have a very large one before you land and keep the belt very tight

Greetings on this nice frosty evening.
I am glad to hear everyone had a reasonable trip home from Fuerteventura. For once it was smooth coming into Manchester, well after we got over the lumps and bumps of the Cheshire plain. Not the usual cry from the back of the car ''are we there yet'', instead it was have we landed yet. A text book landing, my first into Manchester. Things went down hill from there on. My pre ordered taxi didn't turn up, the internet was showing flight diverted due to cross winds. It didn't matter as it took forever to get the bags. Since then I have had a wonderful time. Thursdays usual trip ended in diversions because of fallen trees, the gas board has dug up the end of our Road so second diversion. Torrential rain blocked many local roads so in all my 10 minute journey too close on an hour, why did we bother coming back from Fuerte? Today I was determind to face the elements, on with the long johns full thermal gear and hat; well I had to go out and collect the milk off the front door step.
Well done Dick a nice set of pictues.
Bernard.
