Greetings Kite Weekenders,
What a great weekend we have just had at Sumners Pond 1 (2010) made even better by the superb weather, wall to wall sunshine all weekend and very light winds but just enough to fly.
High points of the weekend were the flights of the radio controlled ‘Kite Toys’ or non strung pseudo kites if you wish to argue about a descriptive title for them. Roy (Dreamcatcher) fulfilled his role as the test pilot admirably, and it is quite apparent that Dave (Global Moderator) knows more about radio controlled flying then he had previously let on!
Dan’s engineering skills were proven having built a successful engine and mount by vision and inspired guesswork.
Collin as you would expect flew completely recklessly, but only with Dave’s engined Canard, by seeing how far away he could fly it before losing the signal!
Personally I did not require an engine as my newly built Federvieh flew in less than half a knot of wind just as a real kite should!
Without doubt for me the absolute pinnacle of the weekend was the dog fight that spontaneously broke out between a pack of the incestuous diminutive dumpers,(it was so exciting that if I knew how I would describe it in bold red fonts) Little Lionel was the clear winner having succeeded in ripping an eyelid off Kasbar, it was nowhere to be found so no doubt in true Jack Russell style he probably ate it! I offered to dispatch a brace of the injured mutts with my lump hammer but the offer was not taken up by their ‘Mummy and Daddy in the form of Collin and Sonia.
All in all a great weekend
Best Regards
Thoughtful Dick.
