Greetings Sledders,
Baling Twine............ We dreamed of baling twine!
When I was boy we had to cut off and braid our pubes to make line to fly kite!
Regards Hard Done by Dick.

Greetings Sledders,
It must be so disheartening for those attempting to build a sled for the Jolly Up Competition when I have to tell you that I have just returned from my local playing field where I test flew my new Jolly Up sled.
The result is that it flies vertically, you did hear correct at an angle of 90 degrees directly overhead, without a tail!
I have achieved perfection, the pinnacle of sled building, in fact my journey has taken me far but I have at last arrived at the sledders Shangri-La.
I designed all of the modifications myself (having taken Jelvs advice) and when I showed it to my friend Eric his comment was; “The ultimate sled”!
I should add that nobody will think badly of any of you if you decide to throw in the towel now when faced with such overwhelming opposition.
Best Regards Dick (Master Sled Builder)

The judges mark sheet can be found here. Sleds will be judged on 8 criteria with each being awarded marks out of 10. Prizes will be awarded for the highest score in 4 of these, another will be for the highest total in the flight characteristics and the final prize awarded to the best total mark.

Don't worry Roy. It's just to keep Norfolk Dick from cheating by using solid line to fly overhead with a sled designed by some one else, or any of the other underhanded tricks they may think up.

That's given me a great idea:- next Jolly-Up why don't we have a sloe gin competition. I don't mind judging provided it is done on the Saturday evening and I don't have to drive home.

Greetings Arthur & Jolly Up Sledders, Arthur, I have read your fascinating scoring schedule and as ingenious as it is, I have to say that it is totally pointless as I have already as good as won! To this end, and in order to save you wasted time and energy that could be spent at the bar drinking that disgusting ‘hoppy’ real ale, I have completed the schedule with the results to save you the effort on the day. Here is the link:- picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/OdB8hpOh-rUbehNV07pv291BCKCfhtOo2AdxI54E4Q0?feat=directlink Naturally (as you would expect) it shows me with a perfect score. I have already written my winners speech and have cleared my mantelpiece in preparation for the trophies that I shall be awarded. Best Regards Helpful labour saving Dick

Early evening greetings to you Dick, Whilst I can only imagine your thrill and excitement about winning the Jolly Up Sled competition before it has even taken place, I am finding it difficult to comprehend where a pet bear and Caz falls into your master plan. I do however realize that we are past 6.00pm and the bottle of Johnny Walker is half empty due to celebrations and speech rehearsals, and you may also have the possibility of sunstroke whilst out test flying your sled. Greetings Dave,
You are of course correct, other than tonight it is Rum & Orange Juice (more appropriate for summer) if you would transfer my fido posting to the dog section I would be most grateful.
Regards Confused Dick.

Fido posting transferred I imagine your Rum & Orange juice mixture is similar to the overdose of vitamin C that you partially poisoned me with at the previous Sumner's

Oh dear, ND does seem to have it wrong. Statement in category 6 has already lead to a large number of negative points!!! Secondly anyone drinking JW should be penalised and as to that hoppy stuff, don't even put it in the same sentence as me.
