Greetings Arthur,
Can you help me please, as you know I am only a poor old pensioner (P.O.P.) with a small car, a large tent and many kites.
I am very restricted for space; if you could give me some idea how much room I will need to leave for my trophies for the sled competition it would be really helpful.
I will be packing my car in the morning so an early reply would be hugely appreciated.
I do so hope you do not think this is a bit arrogant of me but as you know I am a realist.
Best Regards Modest Dick.

Greetings Modest Dick, I may be able to help, I believe the Trophy is currently en route to the Jolly Up field as we speak. Possibly the rapid purchase of a roof rack with some small pieces of fluorescent rag for the ends of your Trophy may be necessary. regards Helpful Dave p.s. I know this is most unlikely, short of an earthquake at Cliddesden, but have you prepared a loser's speech ?

Greetings Dave,
My trophy looks just wonderful, I shall leave it with Roy Broadley & get a 'Man' to collect it the following week.
As to 'a losers speech', sledding athletes like myself, and that of course is what we are; athletes; never entertain the thought (no matter how unlikely) of defeat. A positive frame of mind is a pre requisite of the well honed athlete, a mans most powerful weapon is his mind!
May I commend this simple winning formula to you and all my dear friends.
Regards Sharing Dick.

Oh dear Dick. What went wrong? Was it the wind or missing tail?

Thanks to all the entrants, to the spectators who encouraged, barracked and applauded, and to Dave for the video evidence; but most of all, to Arthur for judging. Great fun.
SLED 3 is coming...

Had great fun with this all the way through. Thanks Roy for letting me have my say on the rules and the judging it.
Results of the Sled Competition Category 1 (Design/Innovation) Roy Martin for his double sled with curved outer keels and tapered profile.
Category 2 (Best Flyer) Harry Douglas who flew out of site. This did follow an Indian Cricket type decision to re-instate him even if he hadn’t read the rules properly.
Category 3 (Construction) Norfolk Dick Abs after all the hype we got before hand his Mylar sled was beautifully made even if……………….
Category 4 (Decoration) Siobhan for a very beautiful pussycat design.
Category 5 (Over-all) Roy Martin as his design was the only really innovative one and it flew well at a high angle. A little more work to stop it collapsing could make this a popular kite.
Category 6 (Best Bribe) Sadly there were NONE so I kept the feather.

It was a pleasure, Arthur. Proud I got the Design/innovation award, surprised I got Best over-all, as collapsing is definitely a problem to be solved...
