Hello all. We are thinking of going to Fuerteventura in November to see the Festival...Can anyone tell me/recommend the best hotels for views of the Kites or best hotels for being near to walking to see the kites please? (Would also like a pool if poss!) Many thanks Greetings Dave has said it all really, the kite festival is held in the Southern end of the dunes which is about 3 miles away from the centre of Corralejo, if you look at Dave's map below, the festival site is where the word Parque Natural is written in green. It is possible to get a bus, but the bus stop is about three quarters of a mile short of the flying site. There are two hotels not in town at the far end of the dunes where the bus stops, but not near enough to see the kites as any more than specks in the sky. If you are concerned about driving in Fuerteventura it is really very quiet and only "Janet and John" standards of driving are needed, were it any harder I would not be able to manage! The island capital is totally by-passed. Hire cars are very cheap in Fuerte. I have just payed 180 euros for 2 weeks hire next month, pick up and drop off at the airport. The first festival day i.e. Thursday 9th November 2017 is as Dave has said held in El Cotillo again you can get a bus but it's a bit of a pain. Many of us fly at El Cotillo on several of the non Festival days as well so a hire car is virtually a must. El Cotillo also has the advantage of really safe swimming in the lagoons irrespective of wind strength or tide, the sea can be a bit "fierce" on the dune beach and more often than not the red flag is flying. Best Regards Dick.

After missing last year I'm hoping to attend this year's festival. Hoping to stay in Corralejo again but not decided in hotel yet.
Was Cicar the best hire car company? I think I used them 2 years ago and they were great but just checking what others think?

I think I used them 2 years ago and they were great but just checking what others think? Greetings David Cicar and Payless are the two favourite companies for hire cars, I am in Fuerte. At the moment albeit I travel home this evening, this trip I have used Plus Car and I will definitely use them again. The cars are at the Airport in the parking bays just a bit to the left of the other companies, the price is the cheapest by a good margin and they received the greatest number of votes on the Fuerteventura forum for best hire car company. I have just paid 154.70 euros for 14 days, pick up and drop of at the airport, my car is a brand new Renault Twingo with 200 clicks on the clock, ideal for just me. I just wish I could work out how to stop the bloody thing automatically turning it self off when you stop, there must be a button somewhere!! Regards Dick.

That is a fuel saving mod. Dick, had it on a Mazda, stop at traffic lights and the engine shuts off, took some getting use to.
Roy.
will give the 'plus car' a go this year.
Good tip I got last year was 'to get the hire car keys while you wait for baggage to arrive, less queue then'.
Think we're flying out from Cardiff this year, will save traveling up to Gatwick and the wait for the coach the next morning.

We're Coming Again, Official Now.
This morning we booked our November hol's for F'ventura, we'll be there 4th - 25th.(3 weeks) staying in the same hotel, flying from Bristol not Cardiff or Gatwick, arriving there at 14:10hrs. so the drive up to hotel will be in the daytime, not night like last time.
More news, when we get it.
Roy and Helen

Hello Kite Weekenders
Newbe here. I have been coming to El Cotillo for the past three years, I now consider it as my spiritual home!
I couldn't tell you one end of a kite to the other but I came across a fantastic video on YT. I don't consider them as kites but as "works of arts"
Fuerteventura Kite Festival 2015
I'll be over on the 8th Nov for the first event at El Cotillo on the 9th.
I'm trying to find my way around this site so bear with me.

I missed last year but hoping to attend this year and will do another good video. As for kites there are all kinds of kites from single line to four line kites.
