I was asked today to advise members of the upcoming Country Craft and Food Fair at the Hop Farm, Kent on the 28th/29th.April.KKF have been invited to display kites in the main arena with teddy bear dropping etc. and a kite workshop as added attractions to the event that usually draws over 10.000 visitors!
They have invited us and members of the EKG as overnight camping is available over the weekend ( FOC, I believe) and wondered if there was any interest before asking the organisers for camping spaces / passes.
I did point out it clashes with the Jolly Up, but the choice is yours none the less…as KKF are doing it anyway, is anyone interested in attending?

Hi all,
i'll just elaborate on the topic, initially KKF were booked to carry out a kite workshop, teddy dropping, loan of kites to the public and kite flying. Just prior to xmas I had a request to put on a 'show' in the event arena. After some discussion it was decided that we invite flyers with single line show/exhibition kites or inflateables to fill this area.
The event is a craft fair with regular visitor numbers between 8,000 to 15,000. It is held over the 28th & 29th April, camping is free. There are showers, toilets & a shop on site plus pub grub next door.
If we can make a success of this event then I am sure others will follow at this venue.

I and my friend are interested in attending and flying our kites at this event . We would require 2 caravan pitches and ideally would like to camp from Friday, Sat and Sunday nights - leaving site Monday morning.
We therefore require 2 caravan pitches, 3 cars & 4 people for the whole weekend - cheers
Where do we go from here about passes and acceptance. ??

Posted this on the KKF Forum just now.....Yes I think (if I am not swanning about somewhere) I would love to come and support the Club....apart from Teston it may well be my first time flying as a *KKF member! Camping most definitely. ;D
Is it true that KKF 'newbies' get a FREE sweatshirt, fleece, chair and walking stick on attending their first event?
I am replicating my above post here: kiteweekenders.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=ue&thread=1167&page=1
as Martin Corrie has requested more info on this event, posted on that link, that hopefully one of you could answer him there.* Probably been a member of KKF for about eight years!

Personally I would like to do both the Jolly Up and Hop farm, sadly though not possible, because of the dates. With the dimise of many kite festivals and events over the last few years I feel my support should be for the Jolly Up, a true kiting event, and that is where I will attend. Places like Hop farm and their many annual events will no doubt have continued success without the need for kite displays as a sideshow.
